The Butler
Out of all the movies we watched in class, The Butler, directed by Lee Daniels is by far my favorite. It's actually my new favorite movie. It is about a father who served as a butler for eight Presidents of the United States. He was working during the Civil Rights Movement. I really liked how in the movie they not only based it on his life at work, but also based it on his life as a child, at home, and outside the work place. The reason why I liked this movie so much is because they did not hold back in showing the audience the way African Americans were treated back then. The scene of the KKK attacking the freedom bus opened my eyes. I honestly did not think that the KKK actually did such cruel things to African Americans. There are so many more things that happened in this movie, but it's too much to talk about. But just know that this is a MUST SEE movie. This movie really opens up your eyes and exposes you to history.
