ALQ part 3
We met sophomore year, at Hoover High School, during volleyball tryouts. I honestly did not like you at first because I thought you were so pretty lol. But then we started talking during try outs and you were actually really nice. You are actually probably the sweetest girl I know. But anyways, during tryouts we were always together. We stood out to the coaches, so we were always used as "examples". We joked and laughed a lot during tryouts. We instantly clicked after the first day. We both made it on the team. From JV to Varsity, we were always together. You were my volleyball partner for everything. For warming up, for peppering, for bus partners. You're the one who motivated me throughout my volleyball season. I would always here you on the benches cheering me on, no matter if we were losing or winning. Because of volleyball, we got super close. We were together all the time, inside and out of volleyball. I will always remember the day we met. I miss you so much Lexi. Best friends for life. #ALQForever

Memories; ALQ
Do you remember that one day when I slept over your house? It was such a random sleepover. It was summer, and you asked me to sleepover just because. I was so excited because sleepovers with you are always fun. We were at work when we planned all this. We said that we would go to grocery store and buy cookie dough so we can bake while we watch netflicks. We also said that we were going to drink and we were going to bake while we were drunk because were crazy like that lol. When it was finally time for the sleepover, we did not go grocery shopping, we did not bake, but we did drink! Our silly drunk asses decided to do each others makeup while being under the influence. That was probably the funniest thing I have ever done. Doing make up while being drunk it actually really hard. of course you did my make up fine since you're good at it, but I did your makeup horribly lol. We even recorded ourselves giving each other make overs! When we were sobering up, we talked about deep stuff. About school, about family, about stupid boys. I would do anything to re-live that day. I miss you so much best friend. #ALQForever

The Butler
Out of all the movies we watched in class, The Butler, directed by Lee Daniels is by far my favorite. It's actually my new favorite movie. It is about a father who served as a butler for eight Presidents of the United States. He was working during the Civil Rights Movement. I really liked how in the movie they not only based it on his life at work, but also based it on his life as a child, at home, and outside the work place. The reason why I liked this movie so much is because they did not hold back in showing the audience the way African Americans were treated back then. The scene of the KKK attacking the freedom bus opened my eyes. I honestly did not think that the KKK actually did such cruel things to African Americans. There are so many more things that happened in this movie, but it's too much to talk about. But just know that this is a MUST SEE movie. This movie really opens up your eyes and exposes you to history.

The book, Writing to Change the World, by Mary Pipher has changed my perspective on writing. Writing isn't something I enjoy. It's also something I struggle in. With this book, I was able to come up with ways to improve my writing. One thing that has been stuck in my mind since I read the book was to take breaks when needed. Whenever I would write, I would never take a break. Pipher says that if you ever are stuck on what to write about or if you just need a break then you should take one. She says that going out for a walk or something can actually benefit you from writing. When you go out to take break, you come back with a fresh mind and new perspective. I've been taking that into consideration and I find it to be very helpful with my writing.
